Check Representment is the conversion of a Non-Sufficient Funds Check to an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) entry and representing such entry through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) Network for payment. Action Professional Service’s new program provides businesses a way to utilize the ACH Network to electronically redeposit a check. By doing so, businesses can procure payments in a much more cost effective, efficient, and expedient manner when compared to the traditional costs of handling a physical check. Check Representment can be used by virtually any type of business in the marketplace today. In order to operate in compliance with Regulation E, the Federal Reserve, and the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA), the merchant must notify the customer of their intentions to redeposit the check electronically should it be returned. The total number electronic representments will be limited to three, after the return of the forward (paper) presentment, for a total of four presentments. Represented check entries may only be created for negotiable demand drafts for under $2500.00 and may be presented only up to 180 days from the date of the original check. Authorization for an electronic collection entry must be obtained from the account holder if the merchant desires to pass along a collection fee. This can be included with the original authorization for collection of the face value of the check electronically.
